Black Vulture

This vulture was found in September of 2003 after he had been tethered to a pole for approximately a month. It is unclear what the vulture was fed but a bone density test showed he had not received the calcium he needed to build strong bones that enable him to fly.

After his rescue, he has been fed the correct foods, including foods high in calcium, and his health has improved dramatically. His bones need to become stronger so that he will be able to fly without injuring himself.

We attempted to release this vulture but due to his early life he had already been imprinted to trust humans. He is now an educational animal and helps us educate people on the dangers to animals when they interfere with an animal's young life.
